NEW YORK / TORONTO - The National Hockey League today announced that GRAMMY and Juno Award-winning artist and Brampton, Ontario native Alessia Cara will headline the entertainment for the 2022 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic™ outdoor game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, March 13, at 4 p.m. ET at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, home of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Her first intermission presented by Ticketmaster performance will be televised as part of the NHL Heritage Classic broadcast on TNT, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

Alessia Cara uses pop music as a diary. Since catapulting to stardom with quintessential loner anthem, "Here," in 2015, the singer/songwriter has matured alongside her audience, capturing the highs and lows of adolescence and young adulthood with camera-like clarity. In many ways, Cara's new era is a snapshot of an artist finally processing her meteoric rise in the music industry.
The Grammy winner's debut single, "Here," peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to sell three million copies. Her platinum-selling debut album, Know-It-All, delivered another smash hit with "Scars to Your Beautiful" and she memorably contributed "How Far I'll Go" to the Moana soundtrack. She then added further platinum plaques to her collection with "Stay," a dizzying club collaboration with Zedd, and an unforgettable feature on Logic's "1-800-273-8255." Cara returned in 2018 with The Pains of Growing, which won a Juno Award for Best Album and Song¬writer of the Year cemented Cara as one of her generation's foremost singer/songwriters. Now with over 15 billion worldwide streams, Cara has soared even higher with the release of her third studio album, In The Meantime, including singles + videos for "Sweet Dream," "Shapeshifter," and "Best Days."
Additional entertainment performers and game day presentation details will be announced in the coming days.
This year's matchup will mark the sixth NHL Heritage Classic™, a game with roots dating back to Nov. 22, 2003, when the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens in the first NHL regular-season outdoor game. The Maple Leafs-Sabres matchup will be the 35th outdoor NHL game and third one this season.
