Rosters for the All-Star Game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will be unveiled Jan. 13 during the 6 p.m. ET airing of "SportsCenter," leading into ESPN's telecast of the Philadelphia Flyers at the Boston Bruins. Fans can vote for one player from each division without regard to position, with the top vote-getter in each division named its captain. Once captains are selected, NHL Hockey Operations will name the remaining rosters. Each team in each division will be represented by at least one player.
The 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, scheduled for Feb. 4-6, will consist of a three-game tournament played in a 3-on-3 format, featuring one team from each of the four divisions.
Ovechkin is dominating voting in the Metropolitan. The Capitals captain leads Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby (14.1 percent) and Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho (6.9 percent). His 24 goals this season are second in the NHL behind Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (26), and his 50 points are third behind McDavid and Draisaitl (53 each). Ovechkin is 12 goals from tying Jaromir Jagr (766) for third in NHL history.
Draisaitl (11.1 percent) is second to McDavid in Pacific voting, followed by Anaheim Ducks rookie forward Trevor Zegras (6.8 percent) and Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk (3.9 percent). Zegras' 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 30 games are second among NHL rookies to Lucas Raymond of the Detroit Red Wings (29 points).
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos (11.0 percent) trails Matthews in the Atlantic, followed by Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins (7.4 percent). Stamkos leads the Lightning with 16 goals and 41 points in 35 games.
MacKinnon's lead on Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov (10.2 percent) in the Central is the closest among all division voting. Cale Makar of the Avalanche, who leads NHL defensemen with 14 goals in 26 games, is third with 8.3 percent.
