Djoos, Hakanpaa sign one-year contracts with Ducks
Each defenseman could have become free agent after season

Christian Djoos and Jani Hakanpaa each signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Djoos, who could have been a restricted free agent after this season, had three points (one goal, two assists) in nine games with the Ducks after being acquired in a trade with the Washington Capitals on Feb. 24.
The 25-year-old defenseman also had 32 points (five goals, 27 assists) in 42 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League, leading its defensemen in goals, assists and points at the time of the trade.
Selected by Washington in the seventh round (No. 195) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Djoos has 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) in 119 regular-season games and one assist in 25 Stanley Cup Playoff games, winning the Cup with the Capitals in 2018.
Hakanpaa, who could have become an unrestricted free agent after this season, made his NHL debut in a 4-3 overtime win against the Colorado Avalanche on March 4, and scored his first NHL goal in a 4-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on March 11.
The 28-year-old defenseman also had 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) in 47 games with San Diego of the AHL after playing the past four seasons with Karpat in Liiga, Finland's top professional league.
Selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (No. 104) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Hakanpaa signed with Anaheim as a free agent on July 3, 2019.
