John-Gibson-Ducks

ANAHEIM --John Gibson took part in his first full practice Monday with the Anaheim Ducks since sustaining an upper-body injury April 1 against the Colorado Avalanche.
The Ducks hope the goaltender will be ready for Game 1 of their Western Conference First Round series against the San Jose Sharks at Honda Center on Thursday (10:30 p.m. ET; USA, TVAS, SN360, PRIME).

"We fully expect if he continues to show this progression, that he's going to be available to us," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "I think the additional day off for everybody (Sunday), he was in for treatment. That enhances his recovery and he's moving well.
"Hopefully things continue to progress at the same rate they have over the last 48 hours and we'll make a decision."
Gibson missed the final three games of the regular season. The 24-year-old was 31-18-7 with a 2.43 goals-against average and .926 save percentage and had an NHL career high in wins.
Gibson had been skating on his own since Thursday, his first time back on the ice since the injury. On Monday, he went through a full range of activities during practice.
"It was good," Gibson said. "It was nice to be back. Feel good. I was fortunate. We needed some stuff to go well, go right and it did."
After the All-Star break, Gibson was 14-4-2 with a 1.95 goals-against average and .937 save percentage.
Ducks defenseman Kevin Bieksa, who has missed the past 12 games after having hand surgery to remove scar tissue on March 16, also practiced.
"He's making good progress," Carlyle said. "If he continues to show that his hand is healed, he'll be an option for us, for the first game."
