How acquired:Selected with No. 6 pick in 2020 NHL Draft
2019-20 season: Erie (OHL): 49 GP, 9-38-47
The 18-year-old, who signed a three-year, entry-level contract Nov. 7, was named an Ontario Hockey League First Team All-Star last season and was the second defensemen selected in the 2020 draft (Jake Sanderson, Ottawa Senators, No. 5). Drysdale (5-11, 175) scored 22 of his 47 points for Erie last season on the power play, an area of need for the Ducks, who ranked 30th in the NHL last season (14.7 percent).
"I know right-handed defensemen, especially good ones, are hard to come by," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "When we drafted Mr. Drysdale, my phone lit up quickly from people who have seen him and just [had] nothing but outstanding things to say about the kid, not only as a person, but his game, his ability to separate with his feet, to move the puck, to have an offensive mind on the game."
