Anaheim Ducks season snapshot fantasy honors

With the NHL pausing the 2019-20 regular season on March 12 due to the concerns surrounding the coronavirus, NHL.com is taking stock of each of the League's 31 teams.

Today, a fantasy recap of the Anaheim Ducks at the pause:

Fantasy MVP: John Gibson, G (rank: 147) -- Despite the Anaheim Ducks' inconsistencies, Gibson has maintained fantasy relevance, going 20-26-5 with a .904 save percentage and one shutout. It is the fifth straight season he has had at least 20 wins. Gibson has played 51 games, more than all but four NHL goalies (Connor Hellebuyck and Carey Price, 58 each; Andrei Vasilevskiy and Frederik Andersen, 52 each), indicating he has provided value as a high-volume starter.

Biggest surprise: Adam Henrique, C/LW -- His 14 goals since Jan. 1 are tied for 14th in the NHL with valuable forwards Evgeni Malkin, William Nylander, Patrice Bergeron, Patrik Laine and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Henrique, who leads the Ducks in goals (26) and points (43), and is tied with Rickard Rakell and Ryan Getzlaf for most power-play points (nine), has been one of the better fantasy streaming options in all formats and brings additional value with 75 hits in 71 games.

Unsung hero: Rickard Rakell, LW/RW -- Even with a low shooting percentage (8.1 percent), the dual-eligible wing has been a category-coverage asset with 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists), a Ducks-leading 186 shots on goal and 81 hits in 65 games. Rakell is piecing together an underrated fantasy season and has seven points (two goals, five assists) in the past five games, including three multipoint games.
