"It's unreal to see that go in," Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton said. "I think we were all pretty excited but laughing at the same time."
Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Svechnikov tries the move every day in practice, and sometimes they even work on it together.
"I actually practiced this move this morning, so it's a great try for me," Svechnikov said. "I practice it with Rod actually a lot. He He passes it to me when I'm going behind the net, and I try that move almost every practice."
Brind'Amour, who said Svechnikov never misses on lacrosse goals in practice, further applauded his effort the way Rittich was playing
"It was just a matter of time before it was going to happen," Brind'Amour said. "Obviously it was a huge moment when we needed it.
"That's almost what needed to happen to get a goal. It wasn't going to happen any other way. Their goalie played great tonight."
Svechnikov has even tried to teach the move to his Carolina teammates, but they haven't quite picked up on it.
"He was trying to teach me, and I had no chance," Hamilton said. "You need time and space, and it was the perfect opportunity for him. It was awesome."
