Antti Raanta signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract Saturday to remain with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The 34-year-old goalie was 19-3-3 with a 2.23 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and four shutouts in 27 regular-season games (26 starts) for the Hurricanes last season and 3-3 with a 2.48 GAA and .909 save percentage in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"Antti has been excellent for us over the last two seasons," Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. "He's been reliable when called upon, and we're thrilled to bring him back for another year."
Signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as an undrafted free agent June 3, 2013, Raanta is 127-73-27 with a 2.43 GAA, .918 save percentage and 19 shutouts in 253 regular-season games (231 starts) for the Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes and Hurricanes, and 9-9 with a 2.48 GAA, .911 save percentage and one shutout in 24 playoff games (19 starts).
The Hurricanes also signed forward Jesper Fast to a two-year, $4.8 million contract ($2.4 million average annual value) on Saturday. He had 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) in 80 regular-season games for Carolina last season and led the Hurricanes with six goals in 15 playoff games.
