COLUMBUS -- Shayne Gostisbehere scored twice and had an assist when the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3 at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday.

Clayton Keller had three assists and Connor Ingram made 31 saves for the Coyotes (2-4-0) for his first win since Oct. 24, 2021, while with the Nashville Predators. He was claimed off waivers from them on Oct. 10.
The Coyotes completed their season-opening six-game trip and head home to face the Winnipeg Jets in their first game at Mullett Arena in Tempe.
"That's a long road trip and to find a way to win at the end is huge," Ingram said.

ARI@CBJ: Kassian scores on wrap-around for 2-0 lead

Johnny Gaudreau, Kent Johnson and Andrew Peeke scored for the Blue Jackets (3-5-0).
The Blue Jackets won 5-1 at the New York Rangers on Sunday for their third win in four games.
"One good game. One bad game. We can't do that all year," Gaudreau said. "We came out flat-footed and they came out and took the lead on us and we never got it back."
Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine had six shots while playing 24:31 in his return from a sprained right elbow sustained in the second period of the season opener at the Carolina Hurricanes.
Gostisbehere made it 1-0 at 9:24 of the first period on the power play from the right face-off dot and Zack Kassian extended the lead to 2-0 at 15:52. Blue Jackets goalie Daniil Tarasov saved his first attempt on a wraparound, but Kassian stuck with it and scored with a second-effort poke.
"One of our big focuses was just winning the first 10 minutes," Ingram said. "Scoring the first one makes a lot easier. It's a little easier to play that way than chasing the game. You play a little safer. You don't have to take risks."

ARI@CBJ: Gostisbehere gives Coyotes 1-0 lead with PPG

The Blue Jackets led in shot attempts (25-9) and shots on goal (10-4) after one period.
"We capitalized on our chances, and then we played well defensively," Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. "Even if they had a shot, we kept them to the outside pretty good in the first two periods and if you looked at the quality scoring chances, we were ahead there too. It was not the volume of shots for us. It was the quality. The guys did a good job of burying them at the right time."

ARI@CBJ: Guenther scores PPG in 2nd period

Gostisbehere at 7:42 of the second period made it 3-0 on his fourth goal. He was at the left post to redirect the backdoor pass from Keller.
Dylan Guenther scored on the power play at 15:22 to make it 4-0. Both of the rookie forward's goals have been in the past two games.
Tarasov was pulled at that point after making eight saves. Elvis Merzlikins saved five of six shots.
Jack McBain made it 5-0 at 2:10 of the third period. Gaudreau cut the margin to 5-1 at 5:45, scoring his fifth goal by banking a rebound of his shot off Ingram.
Johnson scored for a third straight game at 17:24 for a 5-2 score. Lawson Crouse scored into an empty net with 20 seconds left to make it 6-2 before Peeke made it the 6-3 final with nine seconds remaining.
"We weren't good enough. There's not much to say," Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. "It's a shame. It's disappointing because we're coming off a big effort there in New York. You win three of four and you feel like you're kind of going the right direction and then a let-up like this. It can't happen. This came out of nowhere."
NOTES: Keller has seven points (two goals, five assists) in a five-game point streak. … The two power-play goals gave the Coyotes eight, marking the 12th time in Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets history they scored seven or more power-play goals within the first six games of a season. The most recent instance came in the 2012-13 season. … Columbus went 0-for-5 on the power play and has not scored in 20 tries this season, including 0 for 15 at home. … Until the Gaudreau goal, the Blue Jackets had allowed 10 consecutive goals at home. They led the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in a 6-3 loss on Saturday.
