Connor McDavid had two goals and two assists for the Edmonton Oilers in an 8-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Wednesday.

McDavid leads the NHL with 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists) in 27 games this season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and an assist, and Leon Draisaitl, Klim Kostin and Derek Ryan each had a goal and an assist for the Oilers (15-12-0), who had lost two of three. Stuart Skinner made 16 saves.
"Everybody was involved offensively, and I thought we were pretty solid defensively for the most part," Nugent-Hopkins said. "I think our mentality coming in was it was going to be work based. We wanted to work early and go from there."
Jack McBain and Shayne Gostisbehere scored for the Coyotes (7-13-4), who lost the final six games (0-4-2) of their 14-game road stretch (4-7-3). Connor Ingram made 27 saves.
"We knew we had a tough opponent and we needed to be much better," Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. "I don't think anybody will feel sorry for us and they should not. We're professional. Nights like that will happen. We've got to make sure it doesn't happen too often."

ARI@EDM: Nugent-Hopkins rifles home opening goal

Nugent-Hopkins gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 4:37 of the first period.
Ryan made it 2-0 at 16:41, winning a battle to the puck in the slot with Coyotes defenseman Juuso Valimaki before deking from his forehand to his backhand past Ingram.
"We have a high-powered offense … but there's not many games where you're going to score eight goals," Ryan said. "It doesn't happen. I liked that we played a full 60 minutes, especially when we were up. We didn't let our foot off the gas. We stepped on it and kept playing.
"We didn't give up too much. We have no trouble scoring goals, we've had issues limiting them."
Draisaitl pushed it to 3-0 at 8:14 of the second period, scoring with a one-timer from below the right circle on the power play.
Arizona was 3-for-5 on the penalty kill and is 16-for-27 during its six-game losing streak.
"It's another night where it's too many penalties, and that cost us the game, especially with how much talent they have," Coyotes forward Lawson Crouse said. "From there on it was just one after the other after the other.
"We just let them control the pace of the game, and that's ultimately what caused the final score. We're going to learn from it, but move on."

ARI@EDM: Draisaitl buries McDavid's pass for PPG

McBain cut it to 3-1 at 13:43 of the second, but Nugent-Hopkins responded 23 seconds later to make it 4-1 after J.J. Moser couldn't control a pass from Clayton Keller in the Coyotes zone.
Nugent-Hopkins has 13 goals in 27 games after scoring 11 in 63 games last season.
"He's had a focused look all year," Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. "He has that look about him, the killer instinct or the eye of the tiger, whatever you want to call it. He's put import on that type of production."
Brett Kulak scored glove side from the high slot to extend the lead to 5-1 at 18:39, and Kostin made it 6-1 at 3:19 of the third period after Ryan forced a turnover by McBain.
McDavid made it 7-1 at 5:08 when he scored with a wraparound after receiving a backdoor backhand pass from Draisaitl. He then scored Edmonton's eighth goal at 12:43 with a one-timer from the left circle.
Gostisbehere scored at 14:13 for the 8-2 final.
