PHILADELPHIA -- The Arizona Coyotes lost their 10th straight game to start the season, 3-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday.

Karel Vejmelka made 31 saves for Arizona (0-9-1), the only NHL team without a win. It's the longest streak without a win by a team to open a season since the Coyotes started 0-10-1 in 2017-18.
"Not saying we panicked, but at some point we want to win so badly we went away from the way we have to play," Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. "We did a lot of good things, we generated good offense. ... We did a lot of good things. But at the same time, if you want to win in that league, you need to stay with it. You need to play a complete game."
Carter Hart made 29 saves for his third NHL shutout, and Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux each had a goal and an assist in the third period for Philadelphia (5-2-1).
"We have a good group here," Hart said. "We have fun and we're coming to work every day. Our guys are doing their job in front of me of boxing guys out and letting me see the puck and not creating second chances. We've done a good job of that so far."

Couturier gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at 6:54. Travis Konecny took a long pass from Giroux, stepped around Coyotes defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, and centered a pass to Couturier, who was driving through the slot for a one-timer.
It ended Philadelphia's goal drought at 159:54, dating to when James van Riemsdyk scored at 6:58 of the first period of a 2-1 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Flyers lost 4-0 at the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
"I think we stuck to what we needed to do to win this game," Couturier said. "It wasn't easy. They're a tough team to play against. They're tight, and I think their record doesn't really reflect the kind of team they are. They're in a lot of tight games, so it was important for us to stick with it, and I thought we did a good job doing that."
It was the third straight game the Coyotes entered the third period either tied or within one goal.
"There's a lot of emotion," Arizona forward Barrett Hayton said. "Guys are frustrated. Those three games, you're going into the start of the third period with the chance to win. Obviously, we have to find a way to score those goals and win that 20 minutes. There's definitely lots of frustration, a lot of emotion."

The Coyotes' 29 shots on goal were the second most they've had in a game this season (38 in an 8-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in the season opener Oct. 14). But they were shut out for the third time this season and have scored 13 goals in 10 games, the fewest in the NHL.
"When things get tough, you've really just got to simplify," Hayton said. "Those greasy goals, those rebounds, get bodies to the net. I think we did a pretty good job tonight. You saw some of the scrums, we had some good looks, a couple of tips and stuff like that, guys were getting in front of the goalie. I think we just got to stick with that. But we've got to find a way."
Scott Laughton scored at 17:51 to put the Flyers ahead 2-0, and Giroux made it 3-0 with an empty-net goal at 18:23.
The game was the first in NHL history to feature two players with active consecutive games-played streaks of at least 900. Philadelphia defenseman Keith Yandle played in his 930th in a row and Arizona forward Phil Kessel in his 910th.
NOTES: The Flyers were not called for a penalty in a game for the first time since March 31 against the Buffalo Sabres. ... Defenseman Jakob Chychrun led the Coyotes with six shots on goal. ... Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was minus-1 with two shots on goal in 19:31 in his first game against Philadelphia since it traded him to Arizona on July 22. He is fifth among defensemen in Flyers history with 219 points (60 goals, 159 assists) in 381 games.
