ARI@STL: Hayton picks a Blues' pocket before scoring

ST. LOUIS -- Barrett Hayton scored twice to help the Arizona Coyotes earn their second win of the season, 3-2 against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Tuesday.

Hayton's power-play goal with 6:08 remaining in the third period gave Arizona a 3-2 lead. He deflected Shayne Gostisbehere's one-timer from the point.
"It felt unreal," Hayton said. "I love to score. I wanted to produce and help the team win.
"I've been focusing on the details in my game, playing a 200-foot game, being great in the (face-off) circle. Being able to get two goals feels real good."

Kyle Capobianco scored his first goal of the season, and Scott Wedgewood made 34 saves for the Coyotes (2-13-1), who won their first road game in 11 this season and ended a three-game losing streak.
Arizona is the 15th NHL team to need at least 16 games before winning its second of that season.
"We played with a sense of urgency, we played with focus," Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. "The guys made a few adjustments and paid attention to detail."
Torey Krug scored in his first game since missing five in NHL COVID-19 protocol, and Jordan Binnington made 20 saves for the Blues (8-5-2), who have lost four straight.
"I thought at times we worked hard and we did the job," Krug said. "I thought at times we just played stupid. There's no secret formula. We've just got to go out there and stick to what makes us a good team and I think more often than not we're going to beat the team that lines up across from us. It has nothing to do with the opponent. It's all about what's going on in the room."

ARI@STL: Krug scores on a two-on-one to tie it 2-2

Capobianco scored his second NHL goal (in his 16th game) with one second remaining on Arizona's first power play for a 1-0 lead at 7:37 of the first period on a wrist shot from the right point that got past Binnington at the near post.
"The first one's straight in, the second one was tipped," Blues coach Craig Berube said. "That's the first two goals that we've given up from point shots."
Kyrou extended his point streak to five games when he tied it 1-1 off a 2-on-1 with Ryan O'Reilly at 17:57.
Hayton gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead at 11:35 of the second period after Blues forward Robert Thomas overskated a puck in his zone and Hayton took it toward the net.
"Barrett played a heavy game," Tourigny said. "This is good for his confidence."
Krug tied it 2-2 at 14:58 on a 2-on-1 with O'Reilly, who got his 400th NHL assist by feeding the defenseman for a one-timer in the slot.
"Just try to do whatever I can to help the team," Krug said. "'O'Ry' made a great play. It's easy joining rushes like that when you know guys are going to see you and make that pass and all you have to do is focus on collecting it and putting it in. Great play by him."

Wedgewood made 13 saves in the third period when Arizona was outshot 13-3.
"It's been tough, there's been some frustration," Wedgewood said. "I hope I've given the guys a little bit of spark. This was a gutsy win."
