Gaudreau found a streaking Matthew Tkachuk for a goal, seemingly with the eyes in the back of his head.
More spectacular assists from the 2021-22 NHL season:
- Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nicholas Paul made a
wild, spinning, no-look pass
to Ross Colton for a goal.
- Look at the concentration on Jake DeBrusk as he
knocks a pass down out of midair
with his stick to himself, then fires it right back to Brad Marchand on the money for a goal.
- Calgary Flames forward Tyler Toffoli got tripped up and turned around but it
didn't stop him from making a perfect pass
to a streaking Elias Lindholm for a goal against the Vancouver Canucks.
- The master himself, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, doing what he does with an
eye-popping, no-look pass
to teammate Bryan Rust for a goal.
- There is so much to appreciate from New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier on
this particular pass
: The timing, the accuracy, the saucering. All of it is just perfect. Notice how Hischier gets the puck over one defender's stick and under another's and to teammate Yegor Sharangovich in the perfect spot at the perfect time. It's just too pretty.
- Chicago Blackhawks forward Dylan Strome made
an incredible midair pass
to teammate Alex DeBrincat who met net off the baseball-style pass. Strome kept his eyes on the deflected Patrick Kane shot that hit the boards and popped up right in front of him. With no angle to slam it home, Strome seemingly took a half-swing at the puck, finessing a perfect pass to DeBrincat who found the twine.
- Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras
pulled off the lacrosse-style pass
similar to the goal made famous by University of Michigan forward Mike Legg in a 1996 NCAA Tournament game against the University of Minnesota, when Legg picked up the puck with his stick behind the net and wrapped it around into the top corner. Instead of trying to score, Zegras popped the puck up as a lob pass over the left shoulder of Buffalo Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Ducks forward Sonny Milano smacked it into the net.
