"I feel good," Landeskog said after practice at the Canadiens training facility Friday. "Today was a test and I felt good, so I'm in."
Avalanche coach Jared Bednar was not quite as definitive, preferring to wait until Saturday before determining whether his captain will play, because Friday was Landeskog's first full practice since an illness forced him to the sidelines over the past few days.
But Bednar said he is looking forward to seeing Landeskog back in uniform, especially with the Avalanche coping with an injury to defenseman Erik Johnson, who is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a broken fibula.
"Every team's going through injuries, you see Montreal is, and that's no excuse," Bednar said. "But you look at some of the guys that we've had out of the lineup, we lost [center Matt] Duchene for a little bit and then Landeskog and now Johnson's out. For us, those are key guys who play a lot of minutes in a lot of situations. I think the leadership of [Landeskog] coming back into the lineup, another top-six forward who can play in all situations and is able to play under pressure and execute under pressure, an experienced guy, is important for our team as well.
"We'll be welcoming him back with open arms if he's going to go [Saturday]."
Montreal is without centers Alex Galchenyuk (knee) and David Desharnais, and defenseman Greg Pateryn (foot) for at least six weeks.
