Ben Street will be 'just fine' after skate cuts neck

Detroit Red Wings forward Ben Street is expected to make a full recovery after he was cut on the neck by a skate during a preseason game Friday.
The skate of Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Justin Holl clipped Street's neck. Medical personnel quickly treated the cut and he was taken to a hospital.

"We would like to thank the Toronto doctors," coach Jeff Blashill told the Red Wings website on Saturday. "They did an outstanding job. Our medical staff couldn't say enough good things about them. He is going to be just fine.
"They explored the wound. There was no major damage. [Street] was taken to hospital last night to make sure. He was released from the hospital last night and he is on his way home."
Blashill said Holl's skate didn't hit any major arteries or veins.
"He had unreal composure," Blashill said of Street. "He had his hand on his neck. I looked up and saw the replay and that's when I really got scared. I was hoping everything was OK. But we got word pretty quick that it looked like it was going to be just fine."
Street, 29, was signed by Detroit as a free agent on July 1. He had no points in four preseason games with the Red Wings and is expected to begin the season with Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
