Fleury 500

Marc-Andre Fleury joined rare company on Thursday and everybody around celebrated the accomplishment - even the opposing team's fans.

Fleury became just the third goalie in NHL history to reach the 500 wins mark with a 2-0 shutout against the Montreal Canadiens. And before his own Chicago Blackhawks teammates could congratulate him, the crowd at Bell Centre in Montreal got the festivities going by chanting, "Fleury" during the final seconds of the game.
The Sorel, Quebec native joined Martin Brodeur (691) and Patrick Roy (551) in the 500 win club.
Once the buzzer sounded, he got mobbed by his teammates on the ice. Then he went in the locker room for a water-spraying extravaganza. He responded to the latter by saying, "Aww thanks dudes. Appreciate that."

When it came time for the postgame championship belt ceremony in the locker room, Fleury handed it off to captain Jonathan Toews to present to someone, and Toews gave it right back to Fleury along with the game puck.
"I think we've all seen some pretty big milestones with teammates over the years but that's a big one, that's legendary," Toews said as he gave the belt to Fleury.

The Blackhawks twitter account changed their profile picture to a smiling Fleury and their bio to "MAF stan account."

Elsewhere on social media, teammate Patrick Kane posted a message of congratulations.

And Brodeur chimed in as well, saying, "Congrats on 500 wins Marc-André Fleury! Welcome to the club! #Fleury500

Fans can also purchase a special shirt from the Blackhawks for the occasion. The design features a flower made up of hockey sticks in team colors and "500 wins" written on the back.
