"It was my first time going through it. It's a bit of a stressful process but fun," Strome said. "I just wanted to get back out here and not miss any camp. Thankfully we got it done. Happy to be a Blackhawk, happy to stay here and looking forward to what's ahead."
The 23-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, scored 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists) in 58 games for the Blackhawks last season and three points (two goals, one assist) in nine postseason games.
"I'm a confident player when I get the puck, I try to make plays, be smart with it and use my energy wisely," Strome said. "I just have to continue to do that. There are opportunities with [Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach] out. I'm just going to be myself, play hockey, have fun. I'm happy to be back and look forward to the start of the season."
Selected by the Arizona Coyotes with the No. 3 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Strome has scored 105 points (36 goals, 69 assists) in 164 regular-season games with the Blackhawks and Coyotes. He was traded to Chicago along with forward Brendan Perlini by Arizona for forward Nick Schmaltz on Nov. 25, 2018.
"We believe Dylan is ready to take the next step in his career and build off the strides he has made in his first two years in Chicago," general manager Stan Bowman said. "He has great offensive instincts and brings creativity and skill to our team. We are thrilled he is now signed and able to join us [Monday] for the start of training camp."
