The Oilers look to have the makings of a solid offensive tandem in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Milan Lucic if the duo can continue to build off Monday's performance.
In that game, they struck for three goals in total with Lucic scoring twice and Nugent-Hopkins netting one.
"I've had a chance to play a lot with Nuge over the last two-and-a-half years and as we've gone on, we've found more chemistry. I think when I first got here, he paid a lot more attention to improving his defensive game and it took a bit away from his offence and I think last year and this year he's been able to combine both of them," said Lucic.
"He's a big part of this team and being able to find chemistry with a player like him has been fun to do. Whether he's centring a line or playing the wing with Connor, he's a guy we need if we want to go to where we want to be at the end of the year."
They almost teamed for another late in the game on a two-on-one. The best play was probably for Nugent-Hopkins to shoot but he tried to pass and get Lucic the hat trick.
"It's too bad, the Buffalo player for my sake made such a great play on the back check there to take that two-on-one away."
