The Oilers defeated the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night by a score of 7-2 and in the process, they moved into a four-way tie for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The win saw contributions from up and down the lineup which has been a rare feat this season. Milan Lucic and Zack Kassian each notched a pair of goals to help lead the way.
"We capitalized on our chances. We struggled with it a little this season but we had different guys contribute," said Leon Draisaitl, who also had a goal. "The first period was all our third and fourth line. They did all the scoring and it was great to see."
Kailer Yamamoto said it was great to see contributions from the bottom part of the lineup.
"Especially having Kass and Lucic score, they've been battling hard for the team," Yamamoto stated. "To get two goals each for the team it really shows a lot."
Lucic added that the team needs to continue their strong play against the Canucks, who are one of the teams tied for that last playoff spot.
"The main thing is we found a way to win the game and that's got to be the mindset going into tomorrow as well. Doing what you can to find a way to win the game. This is a time of year where we need to string a few wins together, especially with four games before the break."
