TBL@MTL, Gm4: Lightning, Habs honor Matiss Kivlenieks

The NHL mourned the loss of Matiss Kivlenieks prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday.
A moment of silence was observed at Bell Centre before the Montreal Canadiens hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Columbus Blue Jackets goalie, who died in an accident Sunday at the age of 24. An image of Kivlenieks playing was displayed on the scoreboard.

The Blue Jackets shared a photo of a group of hockey sticks outside of Nationwide Arena with the hashtag #SticksOutForKivi.

Some fans replied to the Blue Jackets' tweet with pictures of sticks outside of their own homes. Others hung jerseys in tribute. Some replied with pictures of Kivlenieks in action or coaching at youth hockey camps.
The Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League, where Kivlenieks starred while helping them reach the 2017 Clark Cup Final, also put sticks outside of their locker room.

The Cleveland Monsters, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Blue Jackets where Kivlenieks played much of last season, also mourned their former player on social media.

Fans flooded both teams' replies with their own stories or tributes.
