Blues honor late team legend Plager with video, jerseys, patch

The St. Louis Blues paid tribute to the late Bob Plager before their game against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Plager, an original member of the Blues,
died on Wednesday
. He was 78.
Always a fan favorite, Plager endeared himself to Blues fans on the ice for 11 of his 14 NHL seasons and later as a radio analyst and member of the organization's community relations team.
On Friday, every member of the team wore a classic Blues jersey with Plager's name and number on the back for warmups.

The team annnounced it will wear a blue heart patch with a 5 inside of it for the rest of the season.

Legendary broadcaster Mike "Doc Emrick shared an unforgettable Plager story from the 1971 season.

Hockey Hall of Fame coach Scotty Bowman also took some time to remember his old friend.

The Plager family was in attendance and held up his jersey to loud applause following a moment of silence. The family also had a story to tell.
The great grandson of the late Barclay Plager, Bob's brother and also a longtime Blues defenseman, was born on Friday. The baby was due on April 1, but Bob had predicted the baby would be born on March 26, Barclay's birthday.

Sure enough, he was right.
