Zegras' late PPG propels Ducks over Bruins, 4-3

ANAHEIM -- Trevor Zegras scored a power-play goal with 22 seconds left in the third period, and the Anaheim Ducks won 4-3 against the Boston Bruins at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Ryan Getzlaf drew a hooking penalty on Charlie McAvoy with 45 seconds remaining, won the face-off in the Boston zone against Patrice Bergeron, and Zegras scored on a wrist shot from the top of the left circle.
"It was a lot of fun," Zegras said. "Give credit to my teammates. Great plays all around by everybody on that last goal. It was nice to get the win, for sure."

Zegras had a goal and an assist, Getzlaf had three assists, and John Gibson made 31 saves for the Ducks (26-21-9), who had lost their previous two games and are 2-2-0 on the six-game homestand.
"The last couple weeks I didn't think we did that great of a job of staying level-headed and just playing through the game," Getzlaf said. "Those are the things that we were doing a lot better early in the year, not getting rattled in certain situations, so I thought we did a good job of that tonight."
Brandon Carlo and Nick Foligno each had a goal and an assist, and Linus Ullmark made 24 saves for the Bruins (32-18-4), who were trying to win a season-high six in a row.
"[The Ducks] haven't won in a while, they were ready to go," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. "They probably saw the score the night before (a 7-0 win at the Los Angeles Kings) and that gets their attention."
Rickard Rakell gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead at 6:33 of the first period. Anaheim went on the power play after Brad Marchand was called for cross-checking, and Rakell scored off a rebound.

Foligno tied the score 1-1 at 8:15. Less than a minute after leaving the penalty following a fight with Sam Carrick, Foligno redirected a point shot from Carlo through Gibson's pads.
"The role that I'm in right now is, obviously, a little more defensive-minded and simple, so I'm trying to make sure I do that for the club," Foligno said. "It's always nice to contribute."
The Ducks scored two goals in a 1:10 span to take a 3-1 lead.
Isac Lundestrom scored to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead at 17:53. Jakob Silfverberg kept the puck from crossing the Boston blue line and got it to Cam Fowler. His shot from the slot was saved, but Lundestrom scored the rebound.
Adam Henrique made it 3-1 with 57 seconds left in the period when he scored off a feed from Troy Terry on a 3-on-2 rush.
"Typically, in back-to-backs, we've been fine, but the first period is the period you need to get through," Cassidy said. "It's 1-1 with, what, a few minutes to go. It looked like we were going to get through it, even though we weren't at our best."

Carlo made it 3-2 at 11:15 of the second period when his point shot hit Gibson in the torso and slipped through his pads.
Gibson made a left pad save on Foligno at 15:51 of the second to keep it a one-goal game, but David Pastrnak tied it 3-3 at 1:52 of the third when his slap shot went off the skates of two Anaheim players and into the net.
"There's nothing you can do about that, so there's no use hanging our heads," Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said of the deflections. "We're in an even game, so let's keep going."
Ullmark came up with his biggest save on Henrique with 1:09 left in third, but Getzlaf drew the penalty on McAvoy 23 seconds later.
"I was pumped," Zegras said of the upcoming power play. "Big on 'Getzy' to obviously draw that penalty late in the game. He's our leader, he's our captain. We all look to him for pretty much everything."
