Crouse's two goals lead Coyotes past Bruins

TEMPE, Ariz. --Lawson Crouse scored his second goal of the game with 14 seconds remaining, and the Arizona Coyotes ended a 19-game losing streak to the Boston Bruins with a 4-3 win at Mullett Arena on Friday.

Crouse scored with a one-timer from the left circle after Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort couldn't control the puck near the right post after an icing was waved off.
"Kind of a lucky curve of the puck up on their net," Crouse said. "… I kind of posted up at the blue line thinking it was going to be icing, and [Matias Maccelli] made a great pass over to me on the open side."
It was Arizona's first win against Boston since Oct. 9, 2010 (0-18-1).
"We didn't talk much about it (the streak)," said Karel Vejmelka, who made 43 saves. "We knew that, but we needed to focus for every period to do our job."

Maccelli and Shayne Gostisbehere each had two assists for the Coyotes (8-13-4), who also had their six-game losing streak end (0-4-2).
"I think defensively, for the most part, we took their strength in the offensive zone away, and [Vejmelka] took care of the rest," Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. "We were relentless. We were heavy. We went toe to toe with them on the intensity."
David Pastrnak scored for the fourth straight game for the Bruins (21-4-1), who had a five-game point streak end. Jeremy Swayman made 12 saves.
"I wanted to make sure I was keeping it one shot at a time and making saves when I needed to, and I was one save short," Swayman said. "I want to fix that and move on."
Nick Schmaltz gave Arizona a 3-2 lead 53 seconds into the third period, finishing off a rush with Clayton Keller after Gostisbehere helped force a turnover on Pastrnak in the defensive zone.
Nick Foligno tied it 3-3 at 14:31, one-timing a pass from David Krejci in the right circle on the power play.
"It's hard to pick us apart when you have that many shots in a game (46). The team did a lot of good things … but we wanted finish more, obviously," Foligno said. "We dominated that team. It's unfortunate we didn't come away with the win."
Brown scored 23 seconds into the first period to give Arizona a 1-0 lead, chipping in and scoring short side from the right circle.
Pastrnak tied it 1-1 at 4:52 with a one-timer from the left circle on a power play.

Charlie Coyle put Boston ahead 2-1 at 7:48 of the second. He knocked in a rebound in the crease while falling down after Vejmelka stopped Jake DeBrusk's initial shot.
Crouse redirected Gostisbehere's shot from the right point to tie it 2-2 at 10:40.
"It seems like they're in the top five in the League in everything, so we knew that we would have to be mentally sharp from the puck drop," Crouse said. "And it didn't hurt when `Veggie' is making saves like he did."
Shortly after Crouse scored his first goal, Vejmelka stopped Pastrnak and DeBrusk on breakaways 17 seconds apart.
"The bottom line is you've got to be better overall and find ways to deny their Grade-A chances and find ways to put it in the back of the net," Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron said.
NOTES:The Coyotes were playing their first home game since Nov. 3 after going 4-7-3 during a 14-game road stretch. … Crouse's go-ahead goal was the latest by a Coyotes player since Keith Tkachuk scored with one second remaining on March 17, 1999. … Arizona is 20-for-33 on the penalty kill in its past seven games.
