DeBrusk's goal from the tough angle ends it in OT

SEATTLE --Jake DeBrusk scored his second goal 33 seconds into overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 3-2 win against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday.

DeBrusk skated down the left wing before shooting from a sharp angle. He has scored four goals in his past three games after scoring seven in his first 43 this season.
"[DeBrusk] had his legs tonight, he was hard on pucks, and obviously attacked on the overtime goal down on the forward-side recognition," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "He earned his minutes (18:46). Really nice job for us. Really good job. That's what Jake can do. He can score goals. He showed it on the first one going to the net, but more so the last one just waiting the goalie out."
Brad Marchand returned from his six-game suspension for Boston (30-17-4), which has won three straight after losing four of its previous five.
"I thought Brad had good jump," Cassidy said. "He was on the puck, second effort on the puck, and got some looks and had some chances to win the game. I was happy with his game, and we'll obviously look at the details of it tomorrow when we go through the video part of it. But on the surface, I thought he looked good."

BOS@SEA: DeBrusk nets sharp shot from tough angle

Linus Ullmark made 25 saves for his 17th win this season, which tied his NHL career high (2019-20 with the Buffalo Sabres).
"I don't even know that, but you know, it's just I'm not taking anything for granted," Ullmark said. "I'm very blessed, very happy to be here and know there's a lot of games left."
Mark Giordano and Jordan Eberle scored for Seattle (16-33-5), which has lost six in a row. Philipp Grubauer made 36 saves.
"We played our [behinds] off tonight for 60 minutes," Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. "Tough way to lose a hockey game, but I'm proud of our effort. That's not the best form to start with. We were shorthanded too much, but our penalty kill did fine with that, our goaltender did fine with that. … His game tonight started with the penalty kills. He was sound, solid, and made a couple of big saves."
Giordano gave the Kraken a 1-0 lead at 3:29 of the first period, taking advantage of a bad line change by the Bruins and scoring shorthanded from the slot.
DeBrusk tied it 1-1 at 17:33. Erik Haula had the puck deflected over the net by Kraken defenseman Carson Soucy, and after Jeremy Lauzon couldn't bat it away, DeBrusk jammed it in from the crease before Grubauer could locate it.
The Kraken were assessed four penalties, including one double minor, in the first period and were outshot 17-8.
"I don't know if that's the way we want to start," Grubauer said. "We found a way to kill those off, that's huge. We made a nice play and scored a goal."

BOS@SEA: Pastrnak sends one in from the left circle

David Pastrnak put the Bruins ahead 2-1 at 6:47 of the second period with a one-timer in the left circle off a cross-ice pass from Charlie McAvoy.
Eberle tied it 2-2 at 13:19 when he kept the puck on a 3-on-1 and scored with a backhand from the edge of the crease.
"In the third period, both teams were playing good systematic hockey, just trying not to make a mistake," Eberle said. "I hate to say it's great to get a point, but you always want to win. That's a good hockey team over there. I liked the way we competed."
NOTES:Giordano's shorthanded goal was his second this season and 12th in the NHL, tying Red Kelly, who scored 12 as a defenseman and three as a forward, for sixth among defensemen in NHL history. He trails Mark Howe (28), Paul Coffey (20), Ray Bourque (16), Bobby Orr (16) and Chris Chelios (13). … Marchand had seven shots on goal and led forwards with 21:44 of ice time.
