It is a two-way contract for this season and one way for 2021-22. The 25-year-old forward was a restricted free agent.
"I think my expectations from myself are to go into camp, kind of like I did last year, go in there and play my game and be able to help the team right off the bat," Kuhlman said. "Obviously, it's a great roster, we're deep, but my expectations of myself are to be there and to continue to get better and help the team out as much as possible."
Signed by Boston as an undrafted free agent April 10, 2018, Kuhlman scored six points (one goal, five assists) in 25 games for the Bruins last season and no points in five postseason games. He's scored 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 36 NHL games and three points (one goal, two assists) in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"The hardest thing to do in hockey is put the puck in the net," Kuhlman said. "And coming in, I've just been trying to watch the guys that do it consistently, what they do and how they go about their business and how pucks kind of find them in scoring areas and how they capitalize on it. That's one of the things I've been focusing on this summer, being better around the net and finishing opportunities when they're there."
