Braden Holtby of Capitals to participate in pride parade

Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby will participate in the 2017 Capital Pride Parade in Washington on Saturday.
Holtby will take part in pride festivities for the second straight year and will walk with 100 Monumental Sports & Entertainment staff members, who will be distributing Capitals giveaways and beads.

Holtby is a supporter of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities in Washington. He wore an equality-themed mask and was one of a number of Capitals players to use rainbow-colored "Pride Tape" in celebration of the community during Hockey Is For Everyone month in February. The items were signed and auctioned by MSE Foundation, raising more than $14,000 for the You Can Play Project, an organization dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, coaches and fans without regard to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
Holtby led the NHL with nine shutouts this season, and his 42 wins tied for the League lead with Cam Talbot of the Edmonton Oilers.
Natasha Cloud and Ivory Latta, who play for the Washington Mystics of the WNBA, will join Holtby in the parade.
