Carlo

Brandon Carlo is week to week for the Boston Bruins with an upper-body injury.

Coach Bruce Cassidy said he texted with the defenseman ahead of a 1-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils in Boston on Sunday.
"He's feeling better," Cassidy said. "He's obviously going to be out for a while, but he's feeling better."
Urho Vaakanainen
will replace Carlo in the lineup. The rookie has two assists and is averaging 20:56 of ice time in four games this season.
Carlo was injured at 18:27 of the first period after a hit by forward Tom Wilson in a 5-1 win against the Washington Capitals on Friday. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance but was released Saturday.
There was no penalty called, but Wilson was suspended seven games for boarding by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Saturday.
It's Wilson's fifth suspension in the NHL, all of which have come since September 2017, but his first since the start of the 2018-19 season. He's also been fined twice.
Asked whether Carlo could be considered week to week, Cassidy said, "Until he's back in here skating, I don't know what they've classified it as, that's usually our guys upstairs. I would say week to week is fair to say that. I wouldn't put him at day to day because I certainly don't expect him to be in the lineup Tuesday. But I don't want to be misquoted on that either. But I think that's fair to say week to week."
Boston plays at the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
Carlo has scored three points (two goals, one assist) in 21 games this season. He is second in ice time per game (18:51) behind Charlie McAvoy (23:46) among Bruins defensemen who have played at least 15 games, and second in shorthanded ice time per game (3:06) behind defenseman Jeremy Lauzon (3:08), who had surgery to repair a fractured left hand Feb. 24 and will be reevaluated March 24.
"Just feel for 'Brando,'" Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk said. "Obviously don't want to see anyone in that position. Scary for anyone to have to be in."
With Carlo and Lauzon out, Boston is down three defensemen. Kevan Miller is dealing with issues associated with his surgically repaired knee.
Cassidy said he anticipated Miller would skate with the Bruins this week. Miller last played Feb. 18 after missing the 2019-20 season.
"He will start [skating] on his own this week, whether that's Tuesday or Wednesday or even tomorrow, I'm not 100 percent sure what day that is," Cassidy said. "But that's what I've been told, that he'll get back on the ice this week."
