'Brass Bonanza,' iconic Whalers song, returns during Hurricanes victory

With 27 seconds remaning in the Carolina Hurricanes' 2-0 victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, they struck up the old band.
The public address system blared the theme song from the franchise's past: "Brass Bonanza."

The iconic song from the days of the Hartford Whalers before their move to Carolina in 1997 delighted the crowd at PNC Arena, as well as announcers John Forslund and Tripp Tracy.
The decision to play "Brass Bonanza" comes on the heels of new owner Tom Dundon talking about how he wants to embrace the legacy of the Whalers. As usual, there were some classic Whalers jerseys on the backs of some of the fans in attendance.
Dundon officially
became the Hurricanes majority owner
on Jan. 11.
