BOSTON -- Patrice Bergeron will join the Boston Bruins for practice on Tuesday ahead of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Florida Panthers.

The center has not yet played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs; he last played on April 13 in the final game of the regular season for the Bruins, leaving the game after the first period.
If Bergeron is cleared to play, he could slot back in on Wednesday for Game 5 at TD Garden (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, CBC, TVAS, SN, NESN, BSFL). The Bruins lead the best-of-7 series 3-1 and can advance to the second round with a win Wednesday.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery had previously called Bergeron "likely" to play in Game 5.
"We're fortunate that he'll join us for practice tomorrow," Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said. "We'll gauge his progression and go from there. He's day to day and we'll see how he is when he integrates into other guys on the ice besides just himself."

Bergeron did not travel to Florida for Games 3 and 4 of the series, which were both won by the Bruins.
"It really goes on the medical advice as to what's best for him," Sweeney said. "[The medical staff] just didn't think it would be in his best interests for either one of those games and they took the necessary time. But he's been working hard and we'll see how the progression translates tomorrow and go from there."
The news is not as good for center David Krejci (upper-body), who played in the first two games of the series before being a late scratch for Game 3 and missing Game 4.
"David likely won't be practicing tomorrow," Sweeney said. "I think we'll have a better idea [later]. He's having further testing done today."
Montgomery said that the team would not keep either player out if they were ready to play in the interests of more rest.
"If they and the doctors say they're able to play, they're playing," Montgomery said after Game 4. "You don't take chances in the playoffs. You don't wait, oh, he's going to get another eight days of rest. If he's healthy and we know what the situation is, if he gets the green light, he's playing on Wednesday. Both of them, but especially Bergeron. I have higher hopes [in terms of medical timeline] for him playing than Krejci."
