Sabres team scope

Buffalo Sabres center Ryan O'Reilly is questionable after re-aggravating a mid-body injury in a 2-1 overtime loss against the New Jersey Devils on Friday. O'Reilly did not play in a 2-1 loss against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday because of the same injury. The Sabres did not conduct a morning skate on Saturday, so coach Dan Bylsma will update his lineup before the game. "It wasn't like he went into the game playing with the injury," Bylsma told the Sabres website. "He felt fine to go and I haven't talked to him other than to know he reaggravated it in the faceoff circle in the third period. Obviously it's day to day at this point. If he can't go [Saturday], with a day off Sunday and another day in-between, I don't see it lingering." Left wing Cole Schneider will play his second game of the season if O'Reilly is out. The Sabres, winless in their past three games (0-1-2), will conclude their second of a League-high 19 back-to-back sets this season. Buffalo recalled defenseman Justin Falk on Thursday for the first time since signing the unrestricted free agent to a one-year, two-way contact on July 1. He had one shot and one hit in 12:24 in his season debut on Friday.

Devils team scope

Devils left wing Michael Cammalleri is questionable after having to fly back to New Jersey for personal reasons before the start of the game at the Sabres on Friday. Cammalleri was a late scratch Friday after participating in the optional morning skate. Coach John Hynes said he would speak with Cammalleri on Saturday morning; the Devils did not hold a morning skate. New Jersey is 5-0-1 at Prudential Center this season. The last time the Devils started a season without a regulation loss at home through six games was 2012-13 (5-0-1). Defenseman Andy Greene, who scored on a penalty shot 29 seconds into overtime of a 2-1 win on Friday after being hooked on a breakaway by Evander Kane, became the second defenseman in Devils history to convert a penalty shot. Hockey Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer scored on a penalty shot against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 11, 1998. The Devils are 0-for-15 on the power play in their past four games and rank 20th in the League with a 15.6 efficiency (7-of-45). "Having not been able to capitalize on some of the power play opportunities was definitely something we all feel we can do a better job on," Hynes told the Devils website.

Status report

Lehner will make his 11th start of the season for the Sabres. Kulikov, who missed the game Friday, is questionable to play Saturday, Bylsma said. … If Cammalleri can't play, Smith-Pelly would be his likely replacement. Smith-Pelly had four shots on goal and two blocked shots in 14:57 of ice time on Friday. Schneider will make his 11th start of the season. With an assist Friday, Zajac scored the 400th point of his NHL career.
