The NHL announced earlier Tuesday that Buffalo's game against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum was postponed. The Sabres also had games against the Islanders (Thursday) and Boston Bruins (Saturday and Monday) postponed. Rescheduled dates will be announced.
Forward Taylor Hall and defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen were placed in protocol Tuesday, one day after the Sabres practiced in Buffalo. The Sabres were scheduled to travel to New York on Tuesday after altering their plans because of weather conditions. In order for required COVID-19 tracing protocols to be completed appropriately, the decision was made by the NHL to reschedule the game Tuesday, before postponing their games until at least Monday (Feb. 7).
The Sabres are next scheduled to play Feb. 11, at home against the Washington Capitals.
Buffalo played home games against the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 30 and 31. The NHL announced Monday that the Devils would have their games postponed at least through Saturday after four additional players were placed in protocol. The Devils have 17 players in protocol, including eight who have been added since Tuesday.
The Minnesota Wild had its next four games, through Feb. 9, postponed Wednesday.
The NHL has postponed 20 games during the 2020-21 season; two were postponed prior to its start.
