Ryan O'Reilly Sabres

Buffalo Sabres center Ryan O'Reilly will be out for at least two weeks after having an appendectomy during the three-day Christmas break.
O'Reilly, 25, has 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 27 games this season. He missed six games in November with an oblique injury.

"Our understanding is that he'll need 10-14 days of rest and recovery, plus the time that it takes him to get back into game shape," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said.
The Sabres play at the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-D, MSG-B, NHL.TV).
