The Bruins played with 17 skaters (11 forwards, six defensemen) in a 3-1 loss at the New York Islanders on Thursday.
"I'm always proud of this group," Boston forward Nick Foligno said. "That's the Bruin way. There's no quit in this team. With everything we've faced the past 24 hours, it's been a nightmare, to be honest with you. But we found a way to come in here and just work. That's something we can control.
"I think we also looked at it as an opportunity for some guys that don't get the same kind of ice time, and there's an opportunity in front of them. I thought some guys played real hard tonight and gave us everything they had."
The Bruins on Saturday had games postponed through the NHL holiday break because of COVID-19 concerns. Their game at the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday had already been postponed Friday.
The Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Thursday with no fans in attendance at Bell Centre at the request of Quebec public health officials because of rising COVID-19 cases in the region.
Boston had three games postponed Saturday: at the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday and against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
The NHL has postponed 29 games this season because of COVID-19 concerns.
Marchand leads the Bruins with 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) in 21 games, and Bergeron is second with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 25 games.
"I don't want to look too far ahead, but when they're gone from Boston, they're really good players," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said Thursday. "Other guys have to step up."
Boston won 4-2 at the Calgary Flames on Dec. 11 The Flames have since placed 19 players, coach Darryl Sutter, assistants Ryan Huska and Kirk Muller, and nine members of the support staff in protocol. Calgary has had six games postponed through the holiday break.
