Cale Makar will appear on the cover of EA Sports NHL 24, it was announced Monday.
EA Sports made the announcement official on social media. The full reveal will be on Wednesday.
Makar helped the Colorado Avalanche to the Stanley Cup during the 2021-22 season and was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner as the most valuable player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That same season, he won the Norris Trophy as the League's best defenseman.

Makar becomes just the fifth defenseman in the history of the video game to grace the cover. He is the first since P.K. Subban in 2019. Dion Phaneuf (2009), Chris Pronger (2000) and Scott Stevens (1996) also appeared on the cover. He is also the first Avalanche player to be featured since Peter Forsberg in 1998.
Makar's teammate Devon Toews turned to social media to celebrate his fellow defenseman being selected as the cover athlete with a GIF of Makar.
featured the duo of Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras and Canadian star Sarah Nurse. Zegras became the first Ducks player featured and Nurse was the first woman on the video game's cover.
The game will be released on Oct. 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
