The Calgary Flames clinched a berth in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs when the Vegas Golden Knights were defeated by the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 on Saturday.

The Flames (45-20-9) are first in the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the Oilers with two games in hand. They host the Arizona Coyotes later Saturday (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, SN1, CITY, TVAS2, BSAZX, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
Calgary did not qualify for the playoffs last season. It lost to the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 2020 playoffs, and to the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2019 playoffs.
The Flames are the only team in the NHL with four players who have scored at least 30 goals this season: Elias Lindholm (38), Matthew Tkachuk (37), Johnny Gaudreau (34) and Andrew Mangiapane (31).
Gaudreau leads the team and is tied for fourth in the NHL with a career-high 101 points. Tkachuk is second with a career-high 92 points, and Lindholm is third with 74.
Jacob Markstrom leads the NHL with nine shutouts and is 34-15-8 with a 2.24 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 59 games. Dan Vladar is 11-5-1 with a 2.76 GAA, .905 save percentage and two shutouts in 19 games (15 starts).
The Flames acquired forwards Tyler Toffoli (Montreal Canadiens) and Calle Jarnkrok (Seattle Kraken) prior to the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline. Toffoli has 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 29 games with Calgary; Jarnkrok has two assists in nine games.
Calgary is third in the NHL in goals against per game (2.51) and sixth in goals scored per game (3.47). It is also fifth on the penalty kill (83.8 percent) and ninth on the power play (23.7).
The Flames have not advanced past the second round of the playoffs since losing in the Stanley Cup Final to the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games in 2004.
Calgary won its only Stanley Cup championship in 1989.
