32 IN 32 CGY Fantasy projections Jacob Markstrom

As part of NHL.com's 32 in 32 series, the fantasy hockey staff put together projections for relevant players on the Calgary Flames. Players are listed in order of fantasy rank for this season.

NHL.com fantasy rank: 124

Reason for optimism: Huberdeau took a big step back last season (55 points in 79 games), his first with the Flames, but he is only one season removed from finishing tied for second in the NHL in points (115 in 80 games with the Florida Panthers in 2021-22). Huberdeau did come on strong to end last season, getting 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in his final 16 games, so he is a prime bounce-back candidate under new coach Ryan Huska.

NHL.com fantasy rank: 140

Reason for optimism:Kadri was another Flames newcomer who took a step back last season (56 points in 82 games) after getting an NHL career high in points (87) with the Colorado Avalanche in 2021-22. However, Kadri did set a career high in shots on goal last season (267; second on the Flames behind Tyler Toffoli, who was traded to the New Jersey Devils on June 27), and he also averaged more than one hit per game (99 total), a category he has covered well in his NHL career (1.29 per game).

NHL.com fantasy rank: 141

Reason for optimism:Lindholm was second on the Flames in points (64) last season, behind Toffoli (73), and also led them in assists (42). Lindholm, who had an NHL career high in points (82) in 2021-22, can become an unrestricted free agent after this season, adding to his bounce-back appeal.

NHL.com point projection: 72

NHL.com fantasy rank: 160

Reason for optimism:Andersson set NHL career highs in goals (11), points per game (0.62), power-play points (21) and shots on goal (159) last season. With him playing on the Flames' first power-play unit with Huberdeau, Kadri and Lindholm, Andersson should be considered a fringe top 30 defenseman again this season.

NHL.com point projection: 51

NHL.com fantasy rank: 199

Reason for optimism:Markstrom didn't live up to his high fantasy expectations last season, but he has still won at least 20 games in six straight seasons (23 last season; 20th in NHL). Don't forget, Markstrom led the NHL with nine shutouts in 2021-22, so he is yet another Flames bounce-back candidate.
