Facts and Figures: Flames light up scoreboard

The Calgary Flames rallied from down three goals and withstood a hat trick by forward Cam Atkinson to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 9-6 on Tuesday in the NHL's first 15-goal game

It was the fourth five-goal period by the Flames this season, more than the NHL's other 30 teams combined and the most in a season by Calgary since 1992-93, when it also scored five goals in a period four times.
Forwards Johnny Gaudreau (two goals, two assists), Sean Monahan (two goals, two assists) and Matthew Tkachuk (one goal, three assists) each had four points for Calgary, which is the only team with four 30-point scorers this season (Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk and forward Elias Lindholm).

Comebacks continue to abound

Tuesday marked the 28th time in Atlanta Flames/Calgary Flames history that they won a game after trailing by at least three goals. It was the sixth time the Flames have done it on the road and the first since Oct. 23, 2008 at the Nashville Predators.
In all, six of the 10 games were comeback wins; the Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning rallied to win after trailing by multiple goals. There have been 187 comeback victories in 425 games played, the most at this stage of a season in NHL history and up 10 percent from 170 in 425 games last season. The 60 multigoal comeback victories match the highest total through 425 games of any season; there were also 60 in 1985-86.
Calgary became the eighth team this season to win after trailing by at least three goals and

. The Flames are the only team with more than one such win this season; they defeated the Avalanche 6-5 on Nov. 1 after trailing 4-1.

Matthews plays hero for Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews scored his second goal of the game with 2.7 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 4-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center for their fifth consecutive victory. Toronto is 20-8-0 this season, including 11-3-0 on the road and 9-2-0 in its past 11 games overall.
The overtime goal was Matthews' 15th in 14 games this season; he missed 14 games with a left shoulder injury. Matthews is the seventh player since 1992-93 to score 15 or more goals through his first 14 games of a season and just the second to do so in the past 22 seasons. Simon Gagne of the Philadelphia Flyers had 16 in his first 14 games in 2006-07.

Hornqvist hat trick powers Penguins

Patric Hornqvist had the fastest hat trick in Pittsburgh Penguins history, scoring three times in 2:47 of a 6-3 win against the Avalanche at PPG Paints Arena.
Hornqvist's achievement has been bested by only 20 players in NHL history, most recently by Lightning forward Brayden Point, who scored three times in 1:31 against the Penguins on Nov. 15. Hornqvist was the second Pittsburgh player in the past week to have a natural hat trick against the Avalanche. Sidney Crosby scored three times in 5:35 during Pittsburgh's 6-3 loss at Colorado on Nov. 28.
It's the 11th time in the past 45 years that a team has scored multiple natural hat tricks against the same club in one season. The Penguins have accounted for three of the 11 instances: Lowell MacDonald had two against the Minnesota North Stars in 1973-74, and Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr each had one against the Montreal Canadiens in 2000-01.

Lightning rally for 13th straight win against Red Wings

Tampa Bay played from behind all night and rallied from two goals down in the final 10:10 of the third period before Nikita Kucherov scored the deciding goal in the shootout for a 6-5 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
The Lightning overcame a hat trick by Detroit center Frans Nielsen to win their fourth straight game and 13th in a row in the regular season against the Red Wings. That's

by the Lightning against any opponent since they entered the NHL in 1992, as well as the longest active head-to-head streak in the NHL.

Luongo moves up on all-time shutout list

Roberto Luongo made 31 saves in the Florida Panthers' 5-0 victory against the Boston Bruins at BB&T Center for his 77th NHL shutout, moving him past Hockey Hall of Famers Ed Belfour and Tony Esposito into ninth place on the all-time list. He is four behind Alec Connell, Tiny Thompson and Dominik Hasek, who are tied for sixth with 81.
It was Luongo's 476th regular-season win. He is eight behind Belfour for third place.
