Mark Giordano will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday.
The Calgary Flames defenseman is facing discipline for kneeing Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu on Thursday. The incident occurred at 6:17 of the third period of Calgary's 2-0 win at Scotiabank Saddledome. Giordano was assessed a minor penalty for tripping. Koivu left the game and did not return. The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: kneeing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
