Giordano suspended two games for kneeing

NEW YORK --Flames defenseman Mark Giordano has been suspended for two games for kneeing Minnesota Wild forward Mikko Koivu during NHL Game No. 435 in Calgary on Thursday, Dec. 6, the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 6:17 of the third period. Giordano was assessed a minor penalty for tripping.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Giordano will forfeit $72,580.64. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
