Cam Fowler needs facial surgery and the Anaheim Ducks defenseman is out indefinitely.

Fowler was hit in the face by the puck in a 2-1 shootout win against the Nashville Predators on Monday and was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
A CT scan revealed a complex right facial fracture involving the orbital bone, cheekbone and upper jaw bone, the Ducks said. A timetable for his return is expected following the surgery Friday.
Fowler has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 19 games this season and scored his first NHL hat trick Nov. 4 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Fowler, the No. 12 pick of the 2010 NHL Draft by Anaheim, is one assist from tying Scott Niedermayer for the Ducks record for a defenseman (204).
