And that's just what the 2,500 fans in attendance on Saturday did.
Before the Montreal Canadiens played the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference First Round, the crowd sang a stirring rendition of the Canadian national anthem.
Montreal became the first Canadian team to have fans at a game this postseason. Game 6 was the first game with fans in Canada since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down play in March 2020.
Montreal organist Diane Bibaud played the first few bars of "O Canada," and the fans did the rest, which made an impact on each team even though it was only about 10 percent of the arena's capacity.
"it was exciting to have some fans in the building," Toronto goalie Jack Campbell said. "They made the most of 2,500 people. It was pretty electric. All things considered, it was great to have some fans in the building and it was exciting."
"We could hear them before the game, and going out for warm-ups [I] had chills again," said Montreal captain Shea Weber. "Honestly it was unbelievable. It felt like a lot more than 2,500 people. It was amazing. So I can't imagine what 20,000 people would be like right now because that was electric for that amount."
