TOR@MTL, Gm3: Price dives across crease, robs Spezza

Carey Price made the save of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday.

The Montreal Canadiens goalie robbed Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jason Spezza of a sure goal with a stunning stick save during the first period of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup First Round.
Price was challenging Toronto forward William Nylander to his left when Nylander slipped a pass to Spezza, who had a wide-open net to shoot at. But only briefly.
Price gathered himself and dove to his right, reaching out with his stick outstretched. The puck deflected off the heel of Price's stick and popped up out of play, and he admitted there wasn't a whole lot of thought that went into making the stop.
"Pure desperation, to be honest," he said.
It was the best of Price's 27 saves, but Toronto claimed a 2-1 win and took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
