Weber plays in 1000th game
ByPat Pickens @Pat_Pickens / NHL.com Staff Writer
Shea Weber said thanks to the Bell Centre crowd, even if there weren't any fans there.
The Montreal Canadiens defenseman waved to the empty seats after the Canadiens honored Weber for his 1,000th NHL game against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Weber played his 237th game with the Canadiens on Tuesday after spending his first 763 as a member of the Nashville Predators. Weber's children Beckett and Kenley made special signs commemorating the event, and they were on display rinkside and visible for Weber during the game.

Nick Suzuki and Jonathan Drouin were among Weber's teammates who recorded congratulatory messages to him during a first-period break in play, and his ex-Nashville teammates Pekka Rinne and Roman Josi and long-time Predators general manager David Poile also sent well-wishes.
The Canadiens stick-tapped their captain, and he waved at the scores of empty seats. But he was being cheered loudly by Canadiens fans at home, including members of his family who were attending via Zoom.
