Regardless of his reasoning, Patrick Roy put the Colorado Avalanche and many other teams in a tough spot when he abruptly resigned on Aug. 11.
Instead of going into training camp next month with the coaching staff in place, the Avalanche are trying to find a new coach at a time when the majority of candidates they would have pursued two or three months ago have jobs.
