"This building means a lot to me," Leonhardt told The Beacon Herald . "I said if I ever win the Cup I'd bring it back here." After fulfilling that promise, there was a stop in nearby Mitchell, home of Hockey Hall of Famer Howie Morenz.
Morenz, known as the "Mitchell Meteor" and the "Stratford Streak" for his skating speed, won the Stanley Cup three times with the Montreal Canadiens. Leonhardt, 35, has been Capitals video coach since 2012. "I've seen a lot of familiar faces today, old neighbors, old teammates and old coaches, and even a guy I worked with at No Frills, my first job," Leonhardt told The Record of Kitchener. "It's been a great day so far."
