ANAHEIM -- Ryan Strome scored at 1:56 of overtime, and the Anaheim Ducks ended a six-game skid with a 4-3 win against the Carolina Hurricanes at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Anaheim caught Carolina on a change, and Strome finished a 2-on-1 with Cam Fowler for his second overtime goal this season.
"I wanted to pass, but the shot was there and I shot it," Strome said. "Lucky it went in. Nice play by Cam and I thought we possessed the puck well in overtime."
John Gibson made 34 saves, and Adam Henrique, Max Comtois and Brett Leason scored for the Ducks (7-17-3), who went 0-4-2 during their slide.
"They're a quick team," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "They're one of the elite teams in the League, and to get two points against a team like that is certainly encouraging."
Brady Skjei, Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal scored, and Pyotr Kochetkov made 26 saves for Carolina (14-6-6), which had its four-game winning streak end but has an eight-game point streak on the road (4-0-4).
"Mentally, you could tell, right from the start of the game, we were not ready to go," Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "Not from a lack of effort, just the sharpness was not there."

CAR@ANA: Strome nets 7th goal of season in overtime

Carolina tied the game for a third time when Staal deflected a point shot from Brent Burns at 15:49 of the third period to make it 3-3.
"You know 'Burnsy,' he's going to let it rip however he can," Staal said. "I was in the right spot at the right time, got a good little stick on it and I'll take it."

CAR@ANA: Staal evens game in 2nd period

Henrique gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead at 3:59 of the first period, scoring on the rebound of a Kevin Shattenkirk slap shot that glanced off Henrique's stick and hit Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce in the throat, causing him to fall to the ice.
Skeji tied it 1-1 at 5:38 when he scored on a wrist shot from the left face-off circle on a pass from Jack Drury, who was credited with his first NHL assist.
"Great play from [center Paul Stastny], gave me the puck there and [Skeji] joined in late, kind of saw him out of the corner of my eye," Drury said. "Great shot by him."
Comtois put the Ducks ahead 2-1 at 11:13 on a one-timer after Jakob Silfverberg stripped the puck from defenseman Jaccob Slavin behind the Hurricanes net and found Comtois, who missed the previous 11 games with a lower-body injury.
"It was a little rocky to start, not going to lie, but obviously getting a goal in the first couple shifts, it's always a good thing," Comtois said. "We have a good line on the forecheck, and we saw it on that play. We can create a lot of things from doing that and it paid off."

Aho tied it 2-2 at 10:16 of the second when Slavin's point shot hit the stick of teammate Seth Jarvis and ricocheted to Aho.
Leason gave Anaheim a 3-2 lead 48 seconds later at 10:59 off a pass from Mason McTavish, who scored for the second straight game.
"It was incredible," Leason said of McTavish's pass. "Obviously, it started on the wall there, [Max Jones] and McTavish went into battle and come down on a 2-on-1. He has good patience with the puck and was able to wait until the right time and find me."
Carolina did not have a shot on goal the first 14:59 of the third.
"At least we came back," Brind'Amour said. "We got back into the game, had a good second period, and then you could see how exhausted we were there in the third. We had no jump."
