But soon after the big win, the players broke out into song for a different reason - it was coach Rod Brind'Amour's dad's birthday.
"I've got my phone in here," Brind'Amour said in his postgame address to the players. "Why? Today, you guys don't know my dad, he's an older dude, he has some health issues, some of you guys I've told you about, but all he does is sit and watch and root for us like you wouldn't believe."
Brind'Amour then said his mom, Linda, was on speaker phone with his dad, Bob, and the players proceeded to belt out "Happy Birthday" to "Rod's dad" for a wholesome finish to a momentous occasion.
