CHI@CBJ: Strome goes top shelf to finish passing play

COLUMBUS --Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist for the Chicago Blackhawks in a come-from-behind 4-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Saturday.

Wyatt Kalynuk scored his first NHL goal, and Kevin Lankinen made 23 saves for the Blackhawks (19-18-5), who won for the second time in five games despite falling behind by two goals early in the first period.
"Obviously, we need these points. We should've been ready from the start," DeBrincat said. "It's good to battle back, can't always be leading all through the game, but we had that resilience and effort to get back into the game."
Patrik Laine scored his first goal in 15 games for the Blue Jackets (15-20-8), who have lost five of six and are 2-8-1 in the past 11. Elvis Merzlikins made 24 saves.
"I don't think we played hard enough through the middle part of that game," Columbus coach John Tortorella said. "Found our way in the third period."
The teams will play again here Monday.
Michael Del Zotto scored for the second straight game to give the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead 1:03 into the game.
Cam Atkinson made it 2-0 at 3:13 when he scored from the top of the crease off a pass from Jack Roslovic out of the right corner.
Chicago coach Jeremy Colliton called a timeout after the goal, and Columbus had one shot on goal the next 25:27.
"We just weren't ready to play," DeBrincat said. "We were getting beat off the wall, missing checks. That's pretty much what was said in the time out, just wake up a bit."

CHI@CBJ: DeBrincat hammers de Haan's dish for PPG

DeBrincat cut it to 2-1 at 10:13 with a one-timer from the left face-off circle off a pass by Calvin de Haan on the power play.
Carl Soderberg, scratched the previous three games, tied it 2-2 at 17:02.
"I think we got away from our game a little bit," Atkinson said. "I don't know if we thought it would be an easy night."
Kalynuk, a defenseman playing his seventh NHL game, gave Chicago a 3-2 lead at 3:07 of the second period with a wrist shot from the right point through traffic.
"It's something you dream of," he said. "I know my mom and dad and grandma Betty are smiling back home, so it feels good, for sure."
After video review confirmed the puck crossed the goal line, Tortorella challenged for goaltender interference, but the goal was upheld. The Blue Jackets received a minor penalty for delay of game for the unsuccessful challenge.

CHI@CBJ: Kalynuk's shot sneaks past Merzlikins

Dylan Strome made it 4-2 at 16:40 of the second when he completed a tic-tac-toe play with Kirby Dach and DeBrincat.
Laine scored to make it 4-3 with 49 seconds remaining in the third period and Merzlikins pulled for the extra skater.
De Haan had two assists before the Blackhawks defenseman left the game with a hip pointer at 10:09 of the second period.
"I don't think it's long term, but we'll have to see how he is the next couple of days," Colliton said.
Chicago forward Mattias Janmark was scratched as a precaution with the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline at 3 p.m. ET on Monday.
Columbus traded defenseman David Savard on Saturday and received a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft in a three-team deal involving the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings. Savard, who played 10 seasons for the Blue Jackets after they selected him in the fourth round (No. 94) of the 2009 NHL Draft, ended up with the Lightning.
"He was an absolute warrior on the ice," Columbus defenseman Seth Jones said. "He'd block a shot with his face every game if he had to. Just an all-time guy, and I wish him the best there in Tampa."
NOTES: With an assist on DeBrincat's goal, Patrick Kane has scored 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in seven games against the Blue Jackets this season. … Columbus forward Kole Sherwood was minus-1 with one shot on goal in 8:49 in his season debut. … Roslovic has two goals and four assists during a three-game point streak.
