CHI@DAL: Pavelski buries his own rebound on breakaway

Jason Robertson had an NHL career-high four assists for the Dallas Stars in a 6-1 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Tuesday.

Defensemen Jamie Oleksiak, John Klingberg and Esa Lindell scored, and Jamie Benn had an assist for his 700th NHL point for Dallas (8-8-5), which has scored at least five goals twice during a three-game point streak (2-0-1). The Stars won 5-0 against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
"Obviously playing a lot more games you start to feel more confident, and when I feel more confident I can make more poised plays," Robertson said. "Whether that be pulling up or trying to let a weak side defenseman up the ice in the breakouts, going forward that helps offensively and defensively, so I try to work on the transition game and provide offense."

Patrick Kane played his 1,000th NHL game for the Blackhawks (13-9-5), who are 2-2-1 in their past five games. Malcolm Subban made 31 saves.
"They were good and we didn't have it tonight," Chicago coach Jeremy Colliton said. "Right from the start, they were sharper, they were skating better. They were on top of us on the forecheck. I didn't think we made many plays, early especially, to break pressure and create zone time."

CHI@DAL: Hintz bats the puck into the back of the net

Roope Hintz and Joel Kiviranta each had a goal and an assist, and Anton Khudobin made 21 saves for Dallas, which plays Chicago again here Thursday.
"We didn't change anything, and we created the same opportunities that we have been doing for the last couple of weeks," Stars coach Rick Bowness said. "The only difference was that the puck went in, so that was really good to see."
Robertson, a rookie forward, chipped the puck in the neutral zone to Hintz, who made a cross-ice pass to the right face-off circle for Kiviranta to make it 1-0 at 1:40 of the first period.
Benn's shot from the right circle went off Subban and into the slot to Oleksiak, who made it 2-0 at 15:10.
Mattias Janmark scored on a one-timer from the right face-off circle to cut it 2-1 at 1:43 of the second period.

Klingberg extended the lead to 3-1 at 7:25 with a wrist shot from the point. He did not play Sunday after the birth of his daughter, Elsa.
Asked if scoring a goal felt different as a new dad, Klingberg said, "Maybe a little bit. I got the puck, so it's nice."
Robertson sent a stretch pass to Joe Pavelski, who scored on his rebound on a breakaway for a 4-1 lead at 9:55.
Robertson's passed to the high slot to Lindell, who made it 5-1 at 11:25. Hintz extended the lead to 6-1 at 6:46 of the third period when he batted Robertson's shot out of midair in front of the net.
"There were times when we were good, but for the most part we weren't that great," Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan said. "Maybe we can take some of their recipe and try to mimic it. It just seemed every time we poked a puck away or tried to make a pass, it just blew up off our stick and stayed on theirs. It's just a frustrating game, and at the end of the day, we just have to be better, plain and simple."
