For Andrew Dalbis and Chloe Sommer, Friday night's Chicago Blackhawks game had a nice ring to it.

Dalbis headed to United Center with a plan. And an engagement ring which he had stored inside his roller blades for about 72 hours or so.
"I have my roller blades on a high shelf, so I put the ring in them because I knew she would never look in there," Dalbis told NHL.com.
But when Dalbis secured some seats on the glass for the Blackhawks game against the Winnipeg Jets, he knew he'd have to reach into his skates.

"I always had the idea that I wanted to do it at a Blackhawks game," Dalbis said. "She had no clue this was going to happen."
Sommer, who said her now-fiancé is responsible for getting her into hockey, had her suspicions that something was amiss.
"He wanted to be there for warmups. We never get there for warmups," Sommer said.
But this time they did. When they arrived, Dalbis made a sign at the game that read "If I get a puck, I'll propose." But he still threw Sommer off the scent, claiming he didn't have any ring with him.
Dalbis said goalie Cam Ward approached, but failed to get a puck over the glass and skated away (Dalbis said later Ward waved him over and told him this was on purpose, as a joke).
Enter forward Brendan Perlini. The puck was flipped, the question was popped, extended family members were called or texted and the couple is looking to set a wedding date for late next year.

"I am so going to have a Stanley Cup cake at my bridal shower and the cake topper at the wedding will definitely be us in Blackhawks jerseys," Sommer said. "I already have my ideas on Pintrest."
But what would have happened if Dalbis didn't get the puck?
"Well, we are going to the Winter Classic," Dalbis said. "But it was going to happen. I knew it was going to happen. I had the sign and I am pretty sure every player that skated by saw it."
The couple also got an autographed picture of Blackhawks all-star forward Patrick Kane to take back to their home in Schaumberg, Illinois. But the puck, which of course features the team logos and the date, will always be the special souvenir.
"We have a sports room where we keep all of our stuff," said Sommer. "(The puck) will be a great addition to it."
Meanwhile Perlini is hoping to cash in on his assist with an invite to the upcoming nuptials.
